Hi darlings,
I’ve been busy preparing for my cousins wedding that’s going to happen at the end of this week, who knew wedding preparations were so tedious even when you are not the bride. Trying to find the perfect dress, find matching shoes and accessories in preparations for bridesmaid duties is a huge task . i also succesfully planned a fun bridal shower for my girlll….doesn’t sound like a lot?but in reality it is.
From planning the bridal shower I decided to share a few tips on planning a fun bridal shower /small party
I think the first thing you have to do is determine what your budget is and how many guests are attending
I sent friends and family messages and we pulled resources together and that made up the money that became our budget
I think that one can also assign specific duties to friends and family or write a list of things that would be needed and ask people to bring stuff from the list , maybe one person can bring jollof rice. And another person bring small chops, and some people will bring drinks e.t.c .
Anyway these are the things I think are most in planning a party and have written them in order of importance
Food and Drinks:
I think everybody knows that this is the most important part of every party, of there’s no food is it even a party. Small chops is great , but know your guests , I thought the people I had invited would prefer actual food to small chops and I was right, for something to snack on chin chin, and for drinks home made Chapman, I asked a family friend to help cater so I didn’t have to pay for the catering. There’s also a baker in the family ,so she made the cake.
Music:
I think every good party should have good music to accompany the good food, I employed a DJ, but to save some more cost you can fix a Speaker to your phone or laptop if its a small party or you can buy this party mix CD’s they sell in traffic.
Decorations & props
I think ambiance is important, it sets the mood for a good party, I was going to shop on Instagram for decorations and props but then the prices were beyond our budget so I went to Lagos and found props and decorations for half the price I was told on Instagram. I was so happy.
I was throwing a garden party so I rented a few chairs and tables, put a table cloth on them and poured some petals on them.
I also d.I.y ‘ed a few props to add to the ones I bought from Lagos. Doing it yourself would save a lot of cost.
Games:
Apart from small talk which would happen at every party, you want to keep your guests entertained, games are a great way of doing that, we played word scramble, how well do you know the bride , we read out an hillarious 1960’s guide on how a wife should treat her husband that nobody agreed with , “ahn ahn kuku kill us” lol!
The games were so much fun, thanks to Pearl onyx events for providing that. You can Google bridal shower games and print them out and/or play musical chairs or any other fun game. Remember, you are never to old to have fun 😉
I was also happy that there was a photographer to capture all the amazing moments, i didn’t plan that, it happened because all things work together for good for those that love the Lord. True story. If your budget allows it, you can call a photographer, this post would have been near impossible without a photographer.
After the party, you’d need to clean, include it in your budget, find somebody to clean up, you’d most likely be tired after the party.
I really do hope someone would find this post helpful and it serves as a guide line to help you plan your own bridal shower party or any party at all .

A friend of mine just recently organized a shower for her sister who’s getting married in 2days. She was on it for over a month I thought she wasn’t serious. Ahhh so it’s all work like this. Had no idea
